Starting as Premier Choice in 2002, Qlic IT for Charities evolved from a small web design firm to a top UK Managed Service Provider for not-for-profits.
Founders Adam and Nick merged their extensive experience in technology sectors to craft bespoke, budget-friendly tech solutions specifically for charities.
The shift to Qlic IT for Charities solidified their dedication to empowering not-for-profits, boasting a team of 32 experts and serving over 300 clients by 2024.
Focused on ‘know-who’ rather than just ‘know-how’, Qlic IT lets charities focus on their core missions, handling all their IT needs with continuous innovation and top-notch support.
Our Timeline
Premier Choice Started
Premier Choice started in 2002 when two business partners began a website design company. This small start was the beginning of a journey that, over twenty years, grew into a leading managed service provider for not-for-profit organisations.
2002Branching Into IT Support
In 2006, we branched into IT support, a major change for us. Our founders, Adam and Nick, guided us with their skills and experience. Adam brought valuable knowledge from his family's IT business and work with non-profits. Nick contributed his expertise in telecoms. Together, they focused on excellent customer service. Their belief in direct, personal communication led to our telephone-centric approach – connecting clients directly to engineers, bypassing the impersonal touch of auto attendants and receptionists.
2006Expanding The Sector
By 2012, our portfolio boasted around 50 support clients, with a notable fraction dedicated to non-profit clients. This was just the beginning. Discovering a niche in the non-profit sector, we leveraged the unique opportunities it presented. Our understanding of the sector's dynamics – from trustees and part-time workers to volunteers and sensitive data governance – enabled us to offer tailored solutions. Notably, our approach in this sector was underpinned by a fundamental principle: maintaining low pricing while delivering high value. This was crucial, considering the financial constraints typical of non-profit organisations.
Our commitment to affordable pricing was not just a business strategy; it was an ethical choice, reflecting our understanding of the financial challenges faced by non-profits. We consistently sought ways to streamline and build efficiency into all aspects of our business, ensuring we could offer competitive prices without compromising on quality solutions or customer service. This approach allowed our clients to maximise their resources, enhancing their impact on the communities they served.
2012New Technology Solutions
By 2017, our client base had expanded to over 150, and our team grew to nearly 20 professionals, spanning various departments. Our leadership focused on cultivating a culture centred around exceptional customer service and cutting-edge technology solutions.
2017Rebranding to Qlic IT
Our journey took a significant stride in 2021 with the rebranding to Qlic IT for Charities. This not only modernised our image but also underlined our commitment to the non-profit sector.
2021More Value Offering
As of 2023, we have grown to a team of 32 serving over 300 clients, with a substantial majority in the non-profit sector. Our value offering has expanded to include regular informational webinars, live demos, free training sessions, and up-to-date security bulletins and blogs, all tailored to the unique needs of charities.
